Seed cake – Victorian recipe

to make a gluten free seed cake. The seed mix I put in was 1 heaped teaspoon of caraway seed, 2 rounded tsp poppy seed. The flavour is hard to describe – it seems blandly sweet and generic until you hit a caraway seed. Then it dances right on the edge between savoury and sweet. It’s quite extraordinary, but do be careful with the caraway – too much heads into “medicinal” territory!
