Preventing cross contamination?

I’m almost 3 months gluten free, I’ve noticed significant changes. My anxiety has decreased immensely, no more nausea, stomach cramps, overall I feel very good. My boyfriend made pizza rolls in our airfryer and claimed to have washed it. I made gluten free chicken nuggets in it later and now I’m feeling very on edge with anxiety and stomach cramps. I looked closer at the airfryer and there was still pizza roll residue. Could this be a cause of cross contamination?
