Michele before and after

What was your motivation?
My motivation was to get healthy, fit into clothing that I’ve always imagined, to feel beautiful, and develop self-confidence.

What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My daughter, who is 18 years old, and always dresses very chic. Also, I would get compliments that I look young in the face. I would think, “Not my body?” Lol.

How did you change your eating habits?
I began with a seven day challenge, eating just salads. No sugar, no carbs. I didn’t think I could do it, but I made it through the week and lost 3-5 lbs. I was impressed, so I continued. I started eating low carb meals with some Keto recipes mixed in, but I have a mostly low carb lifestyle. I also incorporate intermittent fasting from time to time: 16:8. Drinking water, water, and more water is also part of my routine.

I love sautéed cabbage with carrots, broccoli, and other veggies with chicken or fish. I’m a creature of habit, so I pretty much make those foods for most of my meals. I have boiled eggs as well.

What did your workout routine look like?
I’ve always loved to dance, but I absolutely love to dance even more now. I do Zumba 2-3 days a week and dance randomly at home daily. Dancing is my Medicine. I also jump rope. I try to stay active 4-5 days a week.

What was your starting weight?
My starting weight was 230 pounds, and my current is 173 pounds. I feel beautiful, free, happy, and motivated to keep pushing myself to the limit. I developed self-discipline and a deep sense of self-love!

What is your height?
I’m a shorty. 5’1″

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started in March 2019, and it took me about 6-8 months to get to my current weight. I’m still not at my goal, but I am so happy.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?/
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is so cliche: Put your mind to work, and it can move mountains. I’ve also learned that I’m actually stronger and able to tolerate more than I thought. Enjoy the process. It’s a journey, a slow one. Enjoy the moments of if seeing your body morphe into a more beautiful thing.

What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
It literally starts with the mind. First, get your mind focused and ready for the battle and the challenges ahead because they will continue to show up! However, you are bigger than your challenges.

After you’ve successfully talked yourself into moving forward, keep loving yourself. Clap for yourself. Take loads of selfies to stay motivated. Treat your body like the temple it is with exercise and food. Also, find a circle of brothers and sisters who are on the same journey.

Most of all, pray along the way.
