Kourtney Kardashian is embracing her body.
In an interview with Health published Tuesday, the 40-year-old TV personality and founder of lifestyle brand Poosh is leading by example in her quest to help women lead healthier lives.
Last summer, she shared a picture of herself confidently rocking a black one-piece swimsuit on the official Poosh Instagram account. Her followers couldn’t help but notice one thing: her visible stretch marks.
Kardashian told Health she was surprised by the positive feedback she received.
“I’ve had stretch marks since eighth or ninth grade on the side of my booty. I never cared about them – I like them,” she said.
Kardashian opted to post the photo from her Italian vacation without any Photoshop or edits, which drew praise from fans who commended her for embracing her flaws.
“Thank you so much for not editing out your stretch marks!” user @mollyetoile3 wrote.
The eldest Kardashian sibling also shared her more relaxed approach to eating. She described growing up in the “super skinny” era and how she struggled to differentiate between what was healthy and what wasn’t.
“‘Fat-free’ and calorie counting was the thing. I don’t even think about those things anymore. No one cared about carbs; it was just (about) no fat,” Kardashian told the outlet. “I didn’t know what was healthy or not healthy growing up.”
“In my house, we are gluten- and dairy-free; my skin is very sensitive, and if I eat dairy, it affects it. I love doing a keto diet, though I’m not doing it now. I noticed my body change for the better,” Kardashian said. “I (also) love intermittent fasting,”which is an eating pattern where people typically only eat within an eight-hour window.
The “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star added although she would never reach for a can of soda, she does treat herself to junk food.
“My mom has a good pantry in Palm Springs filled with Cheetos and Oreos and lots of junk foods. I definitely treat myself. And (recently, sister) Kim (Kardashian West) and I did a road trip, and we stopped at a gas station and raided it – Funyuns, mini doughnuts, Chex Mix,” she said.
Kardashian also doesn’t restrict her kids, Mason, 10, Penelope, 7, and Reign, 5, from junk food either.
“With our kids, I try not to force it. I teach them healthy stuff, and everything in moderation,” she said. “When we go to Disneyland, we eat whatever; we’re not bringing our own snacks!”
