12 is quite a few ingredients, but I had everything already except the Whey Protein Concentrate… but now its a staple in my house!
Let me start by addressing the Whey Protein Concentrate pictured. The recipe calls for Whey Protein Isolate, which can be purchased from some health food shops and online, there’s a link for it on the recipe, BUT, for me personally the price is prohibitive and I can’t justify the cost. Whey Protein Concentrate from Coles is $16 and yes, it has a higher carb count, but by my calculations it only adds .8 grams of carbs per serve, meaning its still under 2g per slice.
” The main difference between whey isolate and concentrate is that whey isolate undergoes more processing, which results in a higher protein content with less carbs, lactose and fat. Whey isolate is typically more expensive than whey concentrate. ”
By all means if you want to have the lowest possible carb count then please do purchase the isolate if its in your budget!
Making the Recipe – ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
As usual Megan Ellam has created a really easy recipe to follow and it really only has 3 main steps.
DO make sure your eggs are at room temperature – a cold egg leaves an eggy taste!
Step 1 – Melt together the butter and cream cheese
Add in the sweetener (If you want too) and the other wet ingredients and eggs
Mix with an electric mixer, I tried just with a spoon, but it didn’t mix the cream cheese enough for my liking and was a bit lumpy still.
Next combine all of the dry ingredients together Add your wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and gently fold. I use a whisk and just very gently mix the two together. Don’t beat it like an egg, you’re just folding it through, I found the whisk just worked better than a spoon

Pop it in your preferred loaf tin, I have a silicone one and its been a bit of trial and error with the baking!
Pro tip – put the pan in front to back, not left to right and turn halfway, by doing this, you’ll get a more even loaf. Perfection! I’ve made 3 loaves and this is definitely my best one – looks wise! It just LOOKS like a loaf of normal bread. From all angles – its got a great crust on it. AND IT LOOKS LIKE REAL WHITE BREAD!

Keto Soul Bread is a winner all round!

Is it? Is it REALLY easy to make and inexpensive?
I’m going to say 100% easy and more affordable than other keto loaves of bread! Of course its not as cheap as a $1 loaf of bread… but its 100% better for you! Its comparable in price to some of the Gluten Free “healthy” loaves of bread from the Supermarket… that are filled with so many non-compliant ingredients… I’d rather make this one myself!
And I’m going to add in that it tastes AMAZING. It freezes like normal bread, it thaws like normal bread and it TOASTS like normal bread!
Just slather with butter and you’re ready to go! I had to go and buy a new toaster as I had thrown my old one out because we didn’t have bread any more LOL
Did someone say steak sandwich? OMG it was so good to have an actual sandwich!
So far I’ve had avo on toast, vegemite on toast, steak sangas, garlic mushrooms on toast… the possibilities are ENDLESS!
I get 16 slices out of the loaf and that comfortably lasts me the week if I only have 2 slices per day.
