For many years, we have been told that fluoride is an important element to strengthen the teeth and prevent dental problems. Advertisements for toothpaste and other oral hygiene products claim that fluoride should be used daily to care for your teeth. Some cities even add fluoride to the tap water, to ensure that the general population is getting it on a regular basis.
Fluoride and Dental Health
With all the recommended uses of fluoride, it is easy to assume that the United States has outstanding dental health. But, the truth is just the opposite: despite the use of fluoride in common dental products, many people still experience dental problems. To make matters worse, it has been found that fluoride can be very harmful to your overall health.
If you look on the back of a toothpaste tube, you will see a warning about the dangers of ingesting fluoride. Most products suggest contacting poison control if a child swallows more than the recommended amount. Wouldn’t it be better to eliminate these ingredients, instead of adding a warning label to the product?

Several research studies have suggested that fluoride is poisonous to the human body, and there was even a study in 1965 which showed clear evidence that cities with fluoridated water had higher deaths from cancer. Even though this information was discovered fifty years ago, there are still many recommendations to use fluoride, and it is very difficult to find cities that don’t add fluoride to their drinking water.
Why Hasn’t Fluoride Been Banned?
The problem is that immediate exposure to fluoride doesn’t seem to cause a measurable impact on a person’s health, and these negative health effects begin to occur over a period of extended toxic exposure.
Much of the information around the topic of fluoride is propaganda, so it is important that you take some time to do your own research in order to understand the impact that fluoride can have on your health.
Steps to Avoid Fluoride Exposure

- Use all-natural mouth wash and toothpaste products that are fluoride-free.
- Refuse the fluoride service when visiting a dental office.
- Install a high quality water filtration system in your home, and make sure the filter removes the fluoride.
- Reduce the consumption of tea, because many types of tea plants absorb fluoride from the soil.
