Guest Dawn of Cooking
Don’t you just love the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls? I truly believe they are on the list of comfort foods. Eat in moderation of course! We have a large family so I decided to make a giant one just to feed everyone for breakfast. I topped it with my delicious homemade cream cheese frosting. WONDERFUL!! Below is the recipe for the giant cinnamon roll plus the cream cheese frosting. Watch my video making this awesome sweet roll here: SWEET ROLL DOUGH 6-7 Cups all purpose flour 1/2 Cup Sugar 2 t. Salt 2 pkg. active dry yeast or (2 1/2 tsp.) 1 Cup Water 1 Cup Milk 1/2 Cup Butter 1 Egg In a large bowl, combine 2 Cups flour, sugar, salt and yeast; mix well. In a small saucepan, heat water, milk, and butter until very warm. Add warm liquid and egg to the flour mixture. Mix together and then keep adding flour kneading until smooth and elastic. Place dough in a greased bowl and let rise in a warm place for at least 30 minutes. Roll out on a large flat surface. Soften 1 stick plus 2 T. butter and spread all over the dough. Sprinkle the dough completely over with brown sugar and sprinkle with cinnamon. I LOVE King Arthur Vietnamese Cinnamon! It has an amazing rich flavor. It needs to be quite long so you can fill up your baking pan. Pinch to seal the edges and roll the cinnamon roll snack to get it even longer! Butter a large round baking pan. I used my Wilton cake pan. Coil the cinnamon roll around in the pan and press down until it covers the entire bottom of the baking pan. Place in a warm place. I set my oven on warm until it is nice and warm inside and then turn it off and place my cinnamon roll inside to let it raise. It should raise for 30 minutes or until it has doubled. Place in a 350 degree oven and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Loosen around the edges and turn out onto a large platter. I had to flip it twice so it would be right side up. It smelled SO SO GOOD!!!!! Let cool and make the frosting! CREAM CHEESE FROSTING Soften 2 T. Butter and then add 2 Heaping T. Cream Cheese to your mixer bowl Add 1 t. Vanilla and 2 Cups Powdered Sugar Beat in your mixer slowly: Add half and half cream a drizzle at a time until creamy. This is truly delicious!! When the cinnamon roll is cool Frost!!
